Face-Off Week at the Biggest Loser Ranch

March 11th, 2009 Posted in Biggest Loser Show

Before we get to the “face-off”, let’s end the cliffhanger ending from last week. Did Mike lose enough weight to keep both teams out of the elimination room? Remember, they needed 77 combined lbs lost to avoid each team eliminating one player.

Can Mike Save the teams from Elimination?

Face-Off Week and Pop Challenge

After the weigh-in the contestants had a Pop Challenge, where they had to do wall-sits balancing a medicine ball in their lap. The player that stayed on the wall the longest wins.

They were also told that this week would be a Face-Off week, where there is no Yellow Line at the next weigh-in. Each player from the blue team will be competing against one player from the black team. The black team will have one member who doesn’t compete. In each face-off a team will win one point. The team that reaches 3 points wins the weigh-in and the other team must send a member home.

The winner of the pop challenge gets to decide who, on the black team, will not be competing, and what the matchups are.

As usual, Tara pulled it out against Mandi, who was the last remaining member of the blue team still on the wall.

Face-Off Matchups

Tara decided to create the matchups like this:

Sione vs Mandi
Helen vs Ron
Mike vs Cathy
Filipe vs Kristin
and the big shocker was….

Laura vs Aubrey

Why would Tara take herself out of the competition, when she has consistently been the biggest loser week after week?

Relay Race at 24 Hour Fitness

The relay starts in the pool where one contestant will swim or walk the length of the pool and grab 2 medicine balls back to another contestant, who will then run them to a mat. Once they have all 24 medicine balls, that contestant runs up and down the stairs transporting 2 medicine balls at a time upstairs. Then another member has to take them from one side of a gym through an obstacle course of barbells. Then another member takes them to the other side of the gym and must do 24 squats for each trip.

The winning team will each win 24 hours of luxury. And, again, the undefeated Black team won the challenge.

But, who really won? The black team pigged out on gourmet meals, alcohol, and cigarettes. On the contrary, the blue team made themselves a healthy meal that same evening. Here is the calorie intake of both teams for that one night:

15,563 Calories for Black Team

1,612 Calories for Blue Team

Filipe Confronts Jillian and Switches Trainers

When Jillian expressed her disappointment in her team for splurging on food, drinking, and smoking, Filipe lost it. He told her that he doesn’t trust her either because she didn’t train him individually at all this week.

Sione felt the same way, so they both asked Bob, if they would train them now. So even though, Sione and Filipe are still on the Black team, they are working out with the Blue Team.

Black team won the weigh-in that they clearly didn’t deserve to win.

Elimination

Ron, Cathy, and Kristin were all going to vote for Mandi to go home. Aubrey, her sister, couldn’t sit back and let it happen so she conspired with Laura, who had a black vote to force a tie and have black team vote for Aubrey. But in the end Mandi made the decision herself to go home because she can do it at home, and she knows Aubrey can’t yet.

What a brave and selfless act by Mandi
